Ordered GT to be delivered in ~1 week. Should I still buy it???
Here is my dilemma... I orderd a Vista Blue GT Premium Convertable a couple of months ago... pretty much all the options but GPS Nav... The car is supposed to be delivered within a week or two. I gave the dealer a NON-refundable $1000 deposit to order. In hindsight that was stupid... I should have insisted on a smaller or refundable deposit.
Now I'm having second thoughts on the whole deal... I keep my cars for longer than average... ~6+ years... I see the Camaro with rumors of a 450+ HP motor, the Dodge Charger coming out, and not to mention the 2009 Mustang refresh with rumors of BOSS engine options... It's got all the makings of a Horsepower arms race and I'm feeling like it might be STUPID to get into a 300HP car 1 model year before the big boys really start batteling it out and us consumers have awesome options all with huge power. Does anybody get my dilemma??? I'd have to walk away from the $1000 deposit, and wait another year on the new car but I'm kind of thinking that might be cheaper than buying the 300HP mustang now and wanting to sell/trade for the new awesome version in a year or two.
On the flip side, I explained all this to my wife and told her that my thinking was that I'd hold back ~$5000 off the sale of my truck and use it to buy a supercharger. That would give me a 500+ BHP monster that would easily have more power than pretty much anything coming from the factory in the near future... Essentially it's buying a $35k vert mustang instead of a $30k one, but getting the Big Horsepower option. Shes cool with the supercharger.
I'm still not convinced though that the Whipple HO on the 2008 GT Vert would keep me smiling though when staring at all the new model cars... Any thoughts? Am I totally alone in this dilemma or are others suffering also?
Thanks for the shoulder(s)!!!

Hmm, now you guys have me wondering... no, nothing was in writing that the deposit was non-refundable... in fact I gave it to my sales person over the phone via a credit card because I couldn't make it in to the dealership to give him a check. I'll definately look into that further if I decide to not purchase... I mean, I have no doubt that they'll sell the car and even at a higher price than I was buying since I was on the X-Plan... so they wouldn't be out any money...

IMO camaro and charger prices will probebly be high, i say buy the gt for 29k, supercharge it save some money an by the time those cars are relesed get some forged internals. then you will be straight.
thats what im in the process of now procharger, forged internals
