yeah but anything could happen...you go in for a replacement fuel pump and they have to pump the tank, someone borrows/drives the car in an emergency and needs gas, etc etc...and YES I know I'm paranoid

Nope. They are afraid of drive offs or someone blowing up the station. Instead, they have some high school dropout come out, butcher up the side of your car with the nozzle, overfill it and run gas down the fender, and forget to put your cap on tight. But, they don't have state taxes.

They do not have to empty the tank to change the fuel pump. It is done from the back seat. Also if they did pump it out they would stick it back in. I think your being paranoid Simply tell the GF to ONLY stick 93 Octane Gas in and ask her every other day to make sure she knows the correct answer.

I only had to tell my wife once. She know it only take 91 Octane. But we have been having to do that with my F-150 for a few years already so she is use to it.

You could alwasy attach a bright red label of some sort to teh gas cap strap.

It's a moot point, but actually they pump it into a roll-around gas dolly where it stays with all the other nasty gas and diesel fuel from all the other cars...they would have to go buy new gas at a station. And this isn't about the gf cause she knows...it's about just some off-the-wall occurrence that would warrant a strange person adding fuel.

aftermarket locking gas cap = no strap. And don't say "oh well the locking cap takes care of the problem", cause even if the key wasn't on my ring, those things are easily picked open.

Only fill it up myself. If I'm in NJ, I get out to make sure they are putting in the right octane. They usually do.

go get a packing label, and write 93 octane only in magic marker, and put it on the gas cap itself.
