convertible gone, back to a coupe
Well, I traded in my 07' Auto GT convertible last night for an 07' 5-speed GT coupe. I had positive equity in the first vehicle and the dealer cut me a check for the difference in my trade. I recouped my equity and still got a great deal on an 07.
I have a convertible boot cover if anyone's interested. I used it a couple times, will sell for $25.00 plus shipping. PM me if you're interested. Thought I'd offer it here before I list it on e-bay.

How did you have positive equity when the '07 decreases in value overnight something like 20%. I won't be out of the woods until sometime next spring, not that I will ever sell this car though.

Congrats on the new coupe. I have never been a convertable fan. They weigh more and chassis is less stiff. Plus being Scotch/Irish the sun hates me.[:@]

I've never been in a vert, but I had always heard that they were stiffer to make up for the lack of a roof. That's why they weigh more.

GidyupGo - The convertible was $28K, put $4K down financed $24K. Sold the convertible for $28K to another dealership, they wrote me a check for $4K. Kept the money and received $3K in rebates on the new vehicle.

That's a hell of a deal then. My Coupe started life as a $31K car, so I have some ground to make up. Good job. One question, did the vert seem "flexy" to you?

The convertible was great, nothing quite like putting the top down and flying down the road. But I still love the styling of the coupe. I really missed the 5-speed manual as well. I enjoy juicing the throttle without worring about moving forward or having to slap it into neutral. The auto didn't do it for me, but it was a blessing in all this DC traffic.

Actually once you chop the roof of a car you loose a significant amount of stiffness. The added weight comes from all the stuff theyadd tostiffen it back up to make itat least acceptable. Rarely if ever in the auto world will you have a convertible that is as stiff in the structure as a coupe.
I have read however that the SN-197 convertable models were much better than the old SN-95's.
Congrats that is a hell of a deal on that trade. I was happy with the X-Plan I got. $29.5k down to 24k with discount and incentives.
If only I waited 6 more months I could have had it all and 0% financing. oh well.
