Engine Compartment paint Quality

Anyone notice that on some color cars the engine compartment paint quality sucks? On my Screaming Yellow car you can just about see the primer on the shock towers. My Midwest Auto shock tower covers look out of place since they are a much higher quality. I saw a Vista Blue car with the MWA shock tower covers and the paint match was perfect. I also saw a Black GT at a car show today and his engine compartment and shock tower paint looked as nice as the paint on the body. Heck ... on my Screaming Yellow car I don't even think they clear coated the engine compartment. Think this is something the warranty would cover?

You won't see any clear coat on Stangs under the hood and engine compartments. It's actually a Base Sealer close to the exterior color with its own code. It's that way on my 01 F150 too.

yeah, the paint / or lack ofpaintunder the hood leaves a lot to be desired.

If I ever pull the engine thats the first thing I'm going to do is paint everything in there.........and clear coat it.

Well ... here's a blue car ... the engine and shock towers look pretty nice to me ... not just sealer ...

Well sh#t, dmhines, I didn't mean confusion here.

This one definitly looks like they have enought base on it and it looks decent, even though there's no clear. It will dull in a couple of years, sadly.
I changed the whole front end on an 05 GT with the red fire color (G2), and it sure didn't look like the outside. Definitly no metallic under the hood.
Maybe different plants. I can't see the sealer on my LL but it's really dull in the engine compartment. Don't know what to tell you.

I've actually had really good results on other cars with this companies matched rattle cans .... I may order a can of D6 Screaming Yellow and paint the shock towers myself. I'll just do single stage ... not gonna mess around with a 2-stage process.

I painted this entire car with about 10 cans of their spray paint .....

I agree ... the black Mustang I saw today had great looking paint in the engine compartment. But from my experience ... every black Mustang has paint quality superior to other colors ...

No wonder...
Black is the color that covers the best so chances are, it's gonna look OK under there.

I like the old days with the black engine bay, no matter the color on the outside. It probably wouldn't look right on the S197s though.

Well, I'm fairly pleased with the quality on my MG.........in the compartment itself......

That being said, what really cheeses me is the fact that if I take the hood liner off, it's fricken green..............[:@][:@][:@]
