Start Up Revs Too High

Does anyone know if I can change my cold start up revs? When I start my car cold it immediately revs to 2000rpm, then down to about 1500, and then after about 30 to 40 sec, it finally gets down to the 800 rpm which is the idle setting. I'd like for it to not rev obnoxiously on start up. Can I do it with my XCAL2? Thanks for any help.

BTW I just ordered the Pypes o/r H-pipe, so if it's still doing this high revving after I install that, ...well...it may make for some unhappy people.

You can change the idle speed, but I dont think you can change the cold start rpm though. It's a little too high though, I'm at about 1700 here. You got cams or something?

No cams, but it is really high.

you can't change it yourself

2000 sounds too high to me, i think you need a new
tune

I'm gonna email the guys at Brenspeed tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone on here had a fix in mind.

Sounds normal to me. Every car I've had has done this and my mustang does it in the colder temps too. I start her up she revs at 2K for a few secs then down to 1500, 1200, then bout 1000 for a minute or two then once shes up to normal operating temp then it settles down to about 800-700.Its this feature thats been around for some years called electronic choke.

Yea, mine's the same. It did it when stock and also with two different subsequant tunes.

Ditto. It's completely normal. But I don't quite hit 2k....I'm at around 1700.

No, I know what he's talking about and it's not normal. My most recent Bama update did that after installing my Steeda CMDP's. It would actually start to climb over 2k. I had to interfere and pull the clutch out a little in gear to get it to wind down. I put my updated Brenspeed tune in and all is well. It's definitely the tune.

Just heard back from Brent at Brenspeed. He says he can adjust my start up rpms. He says they start up high to ignite the cats for emissions. Since I am getting an offroad H-pipe, he says it doesn't need to idle high (the cats will be gone). He will update my tune. GREAT NEWS!!!
