Default What type of blower ?

If I want to keep the engine stock with no internal mods, what type of blower should I get and how much boost should I / could I run ? Could I take the engine to 500 hp or better with stock parts ?

With the stock internals ymmv, 500whp is overatted. I'd rather loose some fat and fortify my suspension for a better application.

450 to the wheels is what most people preach, but there are some running 470, 480, 500, 520. I myself put the 8psi pulley on my whipple HO kit because i'm chicken, plus with 10psi and the way i drive i'd end up loosing it on a 1-2 shift. The saleen 475hp(crank) kit has got to be the most popular. check out www.brenspeed.com for their saleen packages, great customer service.

I like your question of how much boost you could run as opposed to hp. You can safely run 10psi with a proper tune with any number of superchargers, take your pick. I don't know if you would consider replacing your fuel pump. There are those with stock fuel pumps running 10 psi but most would agree that 8psi is about the safe limit for most of our stock pumps, before you need to upgrade by way of a Boost-a-Pump or a whole new unit. I cannot tell you which unit to get, but I can tell you to do your homework, talk to other members here about why they chose what they did, and perhaps ride/drive cars with different setups. Good luck, it's all a very fun and exciting mod.

congrats on your decision to bolt on
the power adder. be prepared for many
sleepless nights, tossing and turning, wondering
which one to buy should i buy this one, or
that one!

the fun will really start, once it's installed (whichever
one you choose)

+1 for what moosestang said.

If I was to get the Whipple, the 8 psi pully is what I would use. Leaning toward the Stage 2 Brenspeed Saleen kit.....if the wheels I get are perfect. (they are finally in transit......the ACTUAL wheels off the movie car "Barricade"! How freaking cool is that!?! Long story, but Ill tell it once the wheels are on my car)
