Is it worth it to get the 1000w system in the 05?
Does anyone have it, and does it have respect?
To those that have it, would i be better off taking the 500w system and just installing my own box?

Personally I don't think its worth the extra $1200....I think it should boil down to a decision as to what is available. If you can't find one with the Shaker 500, only the 1000 then so be it.

Myself I have the 500 and added a Rockford Fosgate 10" Punch sub and amp that has more power than the two 8" sub and amp on the Shaker 1000. It sounds great though I do have the oft reported Shaker problems (skipping, occassional BAD DISC error messages, and not playing the end of songs). If it wasn't for the fact that there is not an aftermarket 6-disc in dash player I'd look outside Ford. Being as there isn't and I do both like the sound of the Shaker system and the 6-disc ease, I'm going to wait for them to get the kinks out of the system.

Yes, dealerships are replacing them now. Problem is - they are replacing them with units with the same problems!

I'm not taking mine in till they have the problem completely corrected. I suspect that means either a new unit from Delphi (the company that makes the Shaker head unit) or another vendor.

Shaker 1000 has to much bass in my opinion, based on what I like to listen to.
I seem to spend to much time turning the bass up or down depending on how the cd is mixed.
They all seem to skip, I would recomend saving your money and buying aftermarket.

I just had my Shaker500 replaced today (after a 3 week wait -- purchased car on 1/29/05) due to "bad disk" error and skipping songs. Now the audio increases with speed and decreases with braking. No chance to try a CD in it because very frustrated with system. Called dealership's service department when I got home and no return call as of it.

I like my 1000. It has enough bass so that I can hear it but it also quite clear so that when I don't need bass I can just hear music.

Sound increasing and decreasing with speed is a feature of the radio. You can control the sensitivity of it. Just check the manual

Frankly man if you plan on buying the car, I wouldn't spend $1,200 for a factory sound system. With $1,200 you could buy audiphile type gear from CDI, ED, Boston, JL at good prices online and have a awesome aftermarket system. A factory system is still a factory system, the head unit isn't that great compared to an ALPINE , THE Speakers still use poor materials, ect. Its not to say that the shaker 500/1000 don't kick *** for factory systems, but regardless $1,200 can by a great aftermaket system
