I have to rant - I don't like the rear of our cars.
Everytime I get behind a s197 mustang on the road and i see the rear.. it just doesn't look good. It's way way too big. I think our cars would look 1000 times better if the rears were much smaller. Even people who like the way the rears look have to agree that if it was even a bit smaller it would look better. The rear bumper is huge and the taillights.. what was Ford thinking? They're three times the size of the older stangs! The mustangs of the 60s and 70s had small rears which made they look more muscular.. the big rears on the s197s make the car look clunky. What saves the appearance of the car is the great side design and the most awesome front end. Rant over. 
I look forward to the redesigned mustang with a smaller rear.

Couldn't agree more. The front end makes the entire car. The rear end is not pleasing to the eye at all.
Come to think of it, kind of reminds me of my ex....
