Default WARNING MRT hood Struts and Cervini's #1171

The MRT hood struts don't fit the cervini's hood 1171. They don't line up and the hood is to heavy. I spoke to MRT and they stated they don't own every hood so how could they test? I would have appreciated a weight limit when purchasing these things. I really didn't think about that at the time. Just a heads up for anyone interested.

Hello,
I have the Cervinis fiberglass hood pictured in the sig pic below and have the Redline tuning ones and they are great and handle the weight just fine. I guess it is a risk we take when going aftermarket.

Ok here is the stupid thing I did. I always do all the install's myself. I was installing these and for some reason every way I tried is was about quarter of an inch off on both sides. I was pushing the hood really high to where you could almost here something bending so I figured it was as high as it would go. I had the thing installed but the arm had to be compressed that quater of an inch and the hood just collapsed. I called MRT support to see if I was doing anything wrong and they were pretty rude. They stated over and over they don't support aftermarket hoods and wouldn't help. So I figured it wouldn't work. When my fiance got home I had to try again. She simply pushed the middle of the hood up and the damn things fit perfect. I don't get it since I was pushing the hood up and forward and nothing would work. Such a simple thing she did, man I spent a good couple hours messing with this thing.

Hmmmm.. guess my Steeda struts probably won't work either. I'm looking at the same hood. How is visibility compared to stock?

If the Steeda are like MRT they should work. I was looking atsteeda's before MRT but I liked MRT look better. The MRT do work with this hood but you need someone (atleast I did) to push the hood up as high as it will go. Damn now I remember. HAH the reason the hood wouldn't go up any further is I was using the stock hood rod to hold the hood up. This was preventing the hood from raising any higher. Stupid mistake I know. The weight of the hood isn't bad I can give it a push down and it doesn't close. I have to push it decently to actually close it. I love them

Visability is rough you do lose some. But on the stock hood could you see below the front of the hood anyways? I have to say I don't feel any more limited then I already did with a stock hood.

Boozshey; of course I did she was the one who helped me install the hood when I got it. I couldn't do some of the mods without her

yeah ive noticed that MRT doesnt have the best customer service, scott over there is areally nice and helpfull guy, but dan on the other hand, depending on the mood he is in will determin what kind of help you get. Even at the openhouse, scott was really helpful when i was looking through the parts, dan seemed to be irritated. ANd they said they dont support aftermarkey hoods?! they have them on their TT v6 cherry. That has an aftermarket hood very similar to the california dream hood.

Visibility isn't bad....a little tough to the right and down, but overall it isn't an issue
