5w-50 is only for the GT500 and the "Ford GT" supercar
5w-20 for the Mustang GT
5w-30 for the v6 mustang

Well now im wondering... Should we use 5w-50 in our 4.6L if it is supercharged? Or was the 5w-50 comment meant for the GT500, which has a different block and I'd guess different internals?

Your're going to want to use 20W in the GT engine no matter what you bolt on.

Q advanced full synthetic with a ford racing oil filter is the combo I use. Also Qadvanced full synthetic just got replaced by Q horsepower. I had to top of my oil after I changed it because I split to much in the process. I just used Q horsepower and it was fine.

Well, the 0W part of it stands for WINTER. It lets the oil get around sooner during cold start ups. The problem lies with the 40 part of it. It would have higher than normal oil pressure, and LESS oil circulation. I'd guess it would do a number on the lifters and bearings. Pretty much FUBAR'd.

What would happen if you used 0W-40 weight oil (Mobil 1) for just 3 months? (in a hot climate)

Ok, ok, ok, so this question will be posted again and again and again. But it'sa very good one, I think. Oil is the lifeblood of an engine, it can make it or break it, right? I've done miles of research on this. On oil forums where oil geeks spend all day and night debating whether you should change synthetic oil at 5k or 6k or even 15k miles [8D].
I ran MC blend (Ford's oil/factory fill) until 700 miles, then switched to Castrol Syntec Blend 5w-20 (basically the same as MC blend). Ran that until 1.5k miles, then again with Syntec Blend 5w-20 (it's readily avail at my local Autozone and highly rated on the "oil geeks" sites).
Then I switched to Amsoil 5w-30 at 3k miles and have been running that until 6k miles (what my car is at now). I'll probably put another 1k on it, then send off to blackstone for analysis to see how far I can go with it.
Oh yeah, nothing but Mobil 1 syn oil filters. They're worth the extra $$$.

I may be the exception to the rule here but i would never charge or pay a friend "BUDDY" to do anything that simple to a car! I could see if it were a tranny swap where it took a weekend or longer, but an oil change?!?!?!? A friend of a friend, different story but a friend of mine, NoWAY! If he is gonna pay you then just take his car and run it through jiffy lube, they will even put washer fluid in his car and check the air pressure in the tires! No wonder the world is the way it is today!
