Louvers
I was paging threw this mag. the other day & spotted this add for "flush mounted window louvers". Although I already have louvers on my 1/4 panels I like the idea of the "Flush mounted" & u can see threw these, so here's there web site www.silverhorseracing.com I checked out the instalation instructions & looks farily simple. They come painted to if u like. What-ya-think?I haven't looked threw there other stuff yet, doing that now--Robie

RE: Louvers
They are hard to install for a novice? The glass has to re removed and
the new louvers bedded into place with urathane. Someone on the forum has them and maybehe will come forward with install ideas and pics. I would do it, but it looks like a professional, beyond my ability, project. EDIT: looks like its an easy peasy jobaccording to the below posts. Maybe I should look into some of these, professionally installed, of course. I would probably put them in unside down or something.:D |
RE: Louvers
Wingman has them installed and Mine are on order. I was going to do the jobmyself, the hardest bit apparently being the removal of the glass (without damaging the paint).
SHR have a huge long waiting list on the prepainted items so you'll have plenty of time to consider your plan of action. |
RE: Louvers
right ya have to take out the window but they sell the kit to do it plus all the stuff needed to re-install-em. Doesn't seem like to much hassle if ya got a Sat. with nothing to do. I like the way they explain the whole install so your not left out in the cold & have a heads-up on what to do. I guess ya could always find a reputable body shop or window guy to do it.

RE: Louvers
I like there "strut tower" brace also & they claim it fits over the "plenum" cover which most dont. I dont know how it fits as my plenum cover now touches the insulation in the hood as it is, Mmmm. The front brake cooling duct set up & lower chin peice is a nice idea

RE: Louvers
Plenty of people have installed them theirselves. There's a huge post about them on TMS, and everyone is sharing their install stories. It seems pretty easy. It's under the exterior mod section. I elected to have my Ford dealer's body shop install them. Charged me about $80. I LOVE these things. My car gets looks constantly.

RE: Louvers
I had mine installed by a body shop. But if you are mechanically inclined I think its a doable self-install. I would order the unpainted and have them painted by a pro painter who is particular. They require a lot of masking and have many opposing surfaces that require careful paint application.
In my opinion they are the best looking louvers you can buy at this time. The visibility is not as good as glass but you get a very safe rear view. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...5/DSC00542.jpg |
