RE: 10 and 2 for s197's
fo me it changes its either one hand at 12 with the other on the shifter, other times usualy on the freeway i put my left hand out the window holding the roof kinda and the right hand on the wheel, and other times i stick both hand throught the gap on the steering wheel so my hands are pretty much touching the gauges and just steer with my forearms (yes i know that probably is not very safe)

RE: 10 and 2 for s197's
Depends on which way i'm leaning. If I lean to the right its usually the left hand at 12 and the right on the shifter. If I lean to the left its the right hand at 12 and the left arm resting on the top of the door with the hand casually holding at 9.

Am I missing something?
How the heck do any of you wrap your hands around the steering wheel on a S197 at 9 & 3??? There's a thick bar there, y'know?
And all you one-handed drivers, get that right hand on the wheel! You try holding the shifter in racing school and the instructor will whack it with a stick! Your hands belong on the wheel. When you shift don't allow that hand to stay there, get in back where it belongs. Why do you think they have paddle shifters on all the race cars?
Oh well, at least it's better than having the left arm along the window!

RE: 10 and 2 for s197's
for some having the right hand on the wheel can actualy be dangerous
my right hand has a strange shake when on the wheel
and if you think oh but if a wheel goes out and you only have one hand on the wheel then your in trouble
been there done that (in other car broken ball joint)having one hand on the console and one on the wheel gave more leverage and prevented a much worse and could have been fatal as with both hands on the wheel I would have gone into the other lane and been hit by a car at over 60 (that was a very crappy day a few years ago

RE: 9 and 3

for large turns my right jumps to the wheel
but I have and can make hard u-turns one handed
press on the wheel and go open palm at the point where you can't keep your hand closed
I think there may be a gene for one handed driving because it feels so natural

I cruise with one hand on top. While racing, keep your hands at 9 and 3 since you will have a greater range of motion. (According to my Bondurant instructor)
