RE: 10 and 2 for s197's
I drive left handed and write with my right hand (not at the same time)
my right hand just doesn't feel right on the wheel
I do drive an auto but thats because I'm worreid that I'll break something
I know the mechanics of driving stick but I worry if I do I'll break it and be kicking myself

9 and 3
I typically only use one hand. Ford_Dude, you are showing your age The new recommendations, at least they are new for us older guys, are to have hands at the 9 and 3 o'clock position to minimize the chance you could injure your arms, hands, or fingers when the airbag deploys. I have heard recommendations for driving positions for manual transmissions that one hand should be on the wheel and the other on the gearshift.

Mostly I drive with my left hand at 12, sometimes my right hand is at 12 if I am not shifting.
Rarely though, I do drive at 10 and 2, and sometimes at 5 and 7 if i am just crusin and relaxed.
