the flyby and the subsequent hazard
lights, are not always meant as an insult.
No, I don't imagine it was an insult. The guy was older and a little aloof, but essentially a friendly guy, I just think he was showing that the car had ***** whilst not risking his 'Rep" or licence.

just because he didn't drag you from the line he's a ricer?
even if he was bone stock he would have taken you easily.
not everyone guns it off the line all the time.
I guess you didn't read the whole story. The light was on a 90deg bend onto the ramp so there was no chance of a drag start. Oh, and if he was stock? It would have been a good contest although Ifancy my ride would have it, it's lighter and easily producing the same numbers as a stock 500, but I guess you missed my Signature as well. So many words, it's confusing isn't it? LMAO

Just wow... that statement just made you look like a complete jackass. His s197 with the whipple will be easily an 11 second car and you're saying a bone stock gt500 with about 1000 more pounds of weightrunning a best of 12.7 bone stock will beat him?

Geese, I didn't know 12's were that fast!

The man was just having fun. Probably not a type of person who drag races but doesnt mind an occasional flooring of the pedal when he is moving on a highway. I think it was all in fun and a bit of showing off my muscle.

Hey guys, not to be off topic but where's the extra 1000 pounds comes from on a GT500? It can't be the 5.4 set-up only...

I cant figur that one out either. Im sure the engine plays a little role but cant be that much. Maybe a bit from the tranny. But I think its that damn sticker price + added market value mark-up.. That has to account for 00 lbs.

My guess is the drivetrain with the 6spd can't go more than 200pds. I just can't make up the remaining 800 on the brakes and suspension.
Maybe it's the name, it carries a lot of weight over the years ya know

the block is cast iron and it had forged internals as far as I know so thats going to account for some as the GT's rods are powdered and the block is aluminum(?).

Ha haaa, there's the big difference. I'm not up on those GT500 since I'll never buy one...
I didn't know the block was cast iron so now that explain a lot.
Thanks...

Where do you get that a Mustang GT weights 1,000 pounds less then a GT500.

Curb weight of a 05 GT Coupe is 3,560 pounds
Curb weight of a 07 GT 500 Coupe is 3,920 pounds
For a difference of 360 pounds. The Iron block weights 86 more pounds then the 4.6 Al. Block. I'll bet the Blower and everything that goes with it weights another 86 more pounds.
