Sport shifter swap not going so well. Need help!
I went about installing steeda sport shifter http://www.silverhorseracing.com/web...ategory_id=260and not going so we'll when I am trying to assemble the new pieces with the factory housing.
The copper coupling is supposed to be flushed to the bottom of the housing before I put stick the shifter in. We'll after about 3 hours with WD40 hammer, c-clamps, etc. it seems to be stuck half way. Can't take it out or insert any further...
In any case in order to reuse the factory housing theyhave you tear out the previous shifter becoming unusuable. In otherwords I have to shifter for my Mustang atm....
I was lucky weekends mom doesn't work so can borrow car for my security job.. However tommorrow I'm hitting up my main job and won't be able to borrow.
What to do?

Ford that didn't so much help me resolve however it does help me to explain the situation a little better.
I have the instructions and everything went we'll up until this. He put it very we'll, "This means that there is no "undo" if you screw it up or just don't like it."
14: Drive or press the bushing from the kit into the pivot cup until it bottoms out - this takes more effort than it seems like it should.
I see this note "Driving the bushing in requires either a hydraulic press or some enthusiastic hammering (I chose the former),"I hope that I can find someone in the neighborhood with the latter.. I only have socket sets and other hand tools.
The bushing is stuck half way. Not matter how I try to force it will not budge in and can't even pull it out. Tried c-clamp, hammer, and a few other things.
I'm wondering if the measurments on the factory assembly varied just enough for it to not fit right... I've had that happen a few times now although these were easily resolved.
We'll see what happens

ok I don't know if you'd be able to do this or if it would work without breaking something
ok find a pipe of the right diameter (not so small as to get stuck but able to push the ring
do you have a hydraulic jack or just the one that came with the car
then use the jack and the pipe and find a surfice that you can jack against that won't move
then use the jack to push the ring on
a hydraulic jack would be easiest as it would take less effort
but if something isn't strong enough to handel the force of the jack you could break something
a hydraulic press would be hard to find (that you could use for free)
