I'm just trying to inform why so many avoid the bottle
yes all problems can be solved and make it safe
but give my a fire suit if you want me in a N2O powered car
passenger seat=loss of being able to have a passenger
how about a safty valve that'll shut if anything goes wrong

Who said it has to be over the gas tank?
If that's your worry then sit the bottle right on your passenger seat!

You're exagerating quitea bit about the bottle blowing up. If you don't like it don't use it, but nobody needs to accuse it of being unsafe when an infinite amount of people are running it safely.

Nitrous oxide is a non-flammable gas at room temperature.
The National Fire Protection Association has not assigned a flammability rating to nitrous oxide.
1. Flash point: Not applicable.
2. Autoignition temperature: Not applicable.
3. Flammable limits in air: Not applicable.

Then mount the bottle on the roof!

I know many run it safly and only a very few have problems
as to its flamability
in its normal form isn't flamable but after its heated it releases the O (oxygen) and the O bonds with another O forming O2 which in its pure form flashes very well and if an engine fire were to start it can cause the N2O to have this reaction which makes the fire worse

N2O is non flammable. All it provides is more oxygen to support combustion (its an oxidizing agent, so when it is exposed to high temps, it breaks down and supplies more oxygen to support combustion) not unlike pressurizing air to supply more oxygen in a cylinder. More O2 means more fuel can be added, therefore providing more cylinder pressure to create more torque per piston stroke.
If done right (which is not hard) its very effective and efficient. The biggest downside is having to fill a bottle.

Well lets see..
Nitrous kit $600
Bottle Warmer $215
Guages $150
Guage pod $120
Purge kit $100
Bottle Opener $230
Window Switch $90
Refills Between $4.50-$12.50 per pound = $45-$125 per bottle. ($125 where I live)
Fun: 3 or 4 runs I am not sure then need to refill.
About $1500 for a good set up. Then you have to refill alll the time. so somewhere around 50 refills and you have spent as much as you would on a supercharger.
Supercharger $5000
Guages $150
Pod $120
Fun: as long as your foot is on the throttle your supercharger will give you power.
I mean there is nothing wrong with Nitrous it's just I would rather not be refilling the bottle all the time. It's an extra errand I would not really be want to be doing. Nitrous may be cheap but it gets more and more expensive as you go. A supercharger is payed for.

+1 on non flammable, downside is having to fill bottle , it is addicting, plus side my experience is with 125 shot it brought me down to 11.31 qtr mile. picked up .97 on just 75 shot. havent ran 100 shot on a good track. going up to 150 shot next time out and trying for a 10.99.
