I have a4000 stall. It was a bit twitchy with the Procharger, lots of clutch slippage, but for some reason it's way better with the turbo and new transmission. Drives great around town. No issues. I'm suspecting that 3500 might be better at the track, but still it's fine asa daily.

2 things I wanted to chime in with.

One is that there is a difference from "stall" speed to "flash" speed. The flash will be higher but you cant hold it. This would be when the car is at idle and you just mash the peddle the rpms will rise higher than it would if you were braking up to the stall. Difference is probably about 250rpm give or take.

I would call a company that builds auto trans for mustangs and tell them what your ultimate goals are. They will be able to let you know what stall will maximize your preformance. I had a Lentech converter on my old car and loved it.

Second thing is since the trans will slip more with a higher stall a quality tranny cooler is now necessary, get as big as will fit. A tranny temp gauge could be worth while if you really beat on the car, ie racing.

Street driving isnt affected that much due to the lock up feature that is mentioned above. A custom tune can also change when the converter locks so finding a tuner with alot of auto trans experience would be good also.

Choosing a stall speed is difficult, I would call in advice from a pro.

Good luck.

The transmission oil temp gauge may be the most importantgauge in my car. Temps can reportedly rise 50 degrees for every second the transbrake is depressed. At highway speeds, I have to use the overdrive and lockout and still temps rise to 220-230 ish.

Stock converters are 2400, I'm having a 2800 from ProTorque installed tomorrow, so I'll let you know the difference.
Any update?
