6 speed on a V6 ?

OK, Any of you guys have inputs on that matter.

I'm gonna Vortech my car soon. That also mean 4.10 gears, but then, I don't want to rev-up at 3000rpm at 80mph on the interstate. I do a lot of highway...
Will the 6 speed behind the GT500 or 03/04 Cobrawill fit the 4.0 block (as far as bolt pattern), and if so, will it give me that lower rpm in six gear?
Plan B; does anyone build a 5 speed with a huge overdrive in top gear?
Thanks in advance,to the Gurus of the Forum.

I dont know why oyu would do this. And even if you did it will rob you so much power it wouldnt be worth it on your v-6, even if you are supercharging it.

why would it rob him of power? He would still have 1-5 that might be lower ratio than stock then he woudl have 6th for over drive.
and if he stuck with a 5 speed he could keep the same 1-4 ratio's and just increase the 5th gear

You would be right. That's the goal I wanna achieve. I want to rip of the line and cruise on the top. Best of both worlds I guess.

6 speeds rob power, as do automatices like c4's and lentechs. They just do, which is why many cobra owners either go auto or to a 5 speed if they want to stay manual.

Can you explain why the 6 speed robs power and a 5 speed doesnt?

Well, since I'm the one with the question here, I won't argue that 6 spd robbing power thing. It doesn't make sense to me though.
I talk to my Terminator friends and they told me that they won't trade the 6 spd over the five for any reasons. For the 1/4 mile, they all go with the 9 inch rear because after 500 ponies at the wheels, the IRS just won't take it. The Borg Warner is still doing the job for them and some of them (650hp +) have it beefed up.

Also, this tranny is behind the Vettes and Vipers and those guys are not complaining.
For now, I just wanna know if it will match the 4.0 block.

Please explain because that basically makes no sense. how do you compare a 6-speed manual to a 3-speed automatic (C4)? What Cobra owner puts in an automatic?

For the OP the t-56 has an overdrive of 0.5 in 6th gear
http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-56.asp
compared to the T-5 in your car that has an overdrive of 0.63
http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-5.asp

So it would be easier on the revs in overdrive, and would get better gas mileage, so if that is what you want it appears to be an appropriate choice. Also it is FAR stronger than the T5 and would better tolerate the abuse of boost. As for whether or not it bolts up I'm not sure. I'm sure someone will weigh in eventually.

Now we're getting somewhere...
Thanks budd, and you red my mind, I want the rpm down in 6th gear after the 4.10s gears ordeal.
If nobody shines my light, I'll go to Ford and figure it out then. If they have 4.0 and 4.6 tranys in stock, I'll check the bolt pattern and input shaft in both of them and if it's the same, then I'm set.
Also if I do the mod, I'll post with pics.
