but that would be a step backward....ls1 would be at least a lateral transition, hell maybe even a step up depending on what mods he has currently and which mods the Z28 currently has and/or what mods he'd do to it. And they're down around 11-12K for an 02.

My first mustang was a 90 GT coupe in late '98, and my first new one is this one, at the ripe ol age of 30. Back in my younger days I had rabbits, jettas and audi 4000's (pop has a vw/audi repair shop)

if you go to a new edge, you really gunna cry and want your 06 back. new edges cant come close IMO. but whatever you gatta do, you gatta do.

yep the little lady and I test drove an 02 GT coupe 5spd and I was like ewwwwwwwww, and ran the other way. So it's an s197 for her I guess, since when I suggested an LS1 she said "I'm not paying that much for a 6y/o car with no warranty"

What excatly is a new edge stang???
I just came to the conclusion that im going to get a cobra, but not the terminator which is the 03/04 i am to believe, but an 99-01 cobra is where im headed mostly becuase its cheaper and it will be my first mauanl car, dont think its a good idea to learn manual on a supercharged car.

Are you saying that the 99-01 cobras are a waste??? I thought it would still at least be faster then my current gt at half the price.

a new edge is the 99-04 body style. Horrible shifters, low fourteen second performance and seats that seem to seat you ON on the car instead of in it. Um, I'd favor an LS1 fbody over a 99-01 cobra any day of the week. PS there are no 00 cobras, they spent that year fixing their screwup (most if not all 99s were recalled because they ran door to door with the GTs despite the extra advertised power...the recalls involved a bunch of parts out of the FRPP catalog and a reflash if I'm not mistaken)

DO NOT GET A 99' COBRA!!! They were not producing their claimed 320BHP and people were selling them back...that is why there are no 2000 cobras because they spent that year redoing the engine for the 01's...new edge stangs just mean the mustangs from 99'-04'...either get an 01 cobra, terminator or mach one!

Make sure you do the math here. My buddy has a new 350z that he wants to sell cuz he cant take the payment plus the ins. He keeps talking about older sport cars, but if you do the math for the lost ur going to take and the lost ur going to take for buying other car. You really might not be saving that much money.

but if the numbers work out, i would look for 01 cobra, or 03/04 mach. That is what i was going to buy b4 my dad/mom step in and payed the dif for s197 gt

So is it safe to get an 01 cobra and still expect better performance than my current 06gt???

Oh and by the way thx everyone for you input...im totally ignorant to the cobra game...all i know is cobras are bad *** and i want one if i have to get rid of my gt...

And for the people who say dont get a new edge stang, then are you also saying do not get a terminator also? Or do you mean do not get a new edge stang unless its a terminator?
