Honestly, no 19 year old should/can have a brand new $30k car unless their parents are paying the bill. Hell, I'm 25 and still couldn't deal with paying for a new mustang.
Typically you are correct, but there are exceptions to that. Some choose to spend most, if not all their paychecks on their cars while their parents pay for college. My parents pay for my school (which I am extremely fortunate for) while I pay for my car. They havent chipped in a single penny for my car, just lucky enough to find a great job that makes the monthly payments. So I say go for it if you can afford it AND TAKE CARE OF IT!

dont worry about it, I didnt buy a new car until I was well into my 20's. ya gotta do what ya gotta do. even if you do get anew edge, sn95, or fox body doesnt matter that much, it's still a mustang. my first mustang was a '77 mustang II with a 302. i rebuilt it and it was great at the time. school should come first, then when you're making good money, then get a new mustang. that's how it should be anyway.

Think of it this way......short term loss long term gain (college degree). Than you can buy a newer version in the not so distant future! Take care

If I was in your position I would look for an older fox mustang. Especially if I could track down a 93 Cobra.

My reasoning is they are even cheaper and you could afford to mod it. They are much easier to work on and there are about 1,000 different aftermarket parts for them at reasonable prices. When I was in college I was wrenching all the time and learned alot from doing it. If you like to work on your car get a fox.

I had a 99GT and the only real mod worth doing is simple bolt ons or FI.

But on my old fox I changed heads and cams and put nitrous on it. That was the fastest car I have had. Ran 11.5's and I had under 17K invested in the car and mods.

Just a thought.
