Your front tires need to grip just as good as the rear....if they break loose you cant steer so then having them on the rear aint going to mean ****.....
Winter tires are also made from compounds that don't get hard & slick as temps drop. I have Pirelli Snowsport 210's on some stock rims and had no problems last winter. Don't skimp on safety. Get 4!!
