Front End Still Thunking . . . What Dealer Says About New Part
I had my GT in the service department in July of this year as many of you were already getting the newly designed upper strut mount whose part number began with "8." The service manager told me that under warranty, all he could do is replace the strut mounts with the old part (starting with "5").
The car still thunks, so I called the service manager back today, 10/11/07. He swears that the newly designed upper strut mount was not available to anyone within the Ford network until very late in August. That does not jive with the fact that some of you fellows got the new part installed toward the end of June and into early July.
Is he telling the truth or just covering up?

He might be right ..june was early...july wa spossible for some..got mione in august..
there is NOW a TSB out for it..find it print it and bring it back with the 2008 part...8r3z-18183-b

Yes, Torch Red, I referred to that TSB on the phone with the service manager, and he was offended a bit and thought that I was suggesting that he was incompetent. I really didn't mean to suggest that, but I did suggest that apparently some dealers can get new parts when other dealers can't.

1Quik06 -- The TSB I'm referring to is TSB 07-18-2. I don't have a link to it right off, but a quick search would probably reveal it. In fact, it's probably listed in the section of Mustang TSBs at the top of this page.

Well now that you know the deal and apparently more then the Service Manager..just tell him to fix it right...Bring a copy of the TSB so there are no issues..
I actually got mine fixed before the TSB, thanks to other's and infoon this Forum, Despite the fact i have aftermarket shocks and springs..It was a fight but i won in the end..

really accomplish though is making him aware that you caught him in a lie.

Mid June for me. I was one of the first only because I b*tched so much.
