I'm pissed

Some idiot hit my brand new car last night. [:@]I haven't had the damn thing but a month. The good news is its not that bad. The bad news is he (or she) knocked my passenger side mirror completely off. I don't know who it was, it happened in a parking lot last night. I found it like that when I got outside. What's the best thing to do to replace the mirror? Should I go to the Ford dealership or try to order it offline?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

go to ford, see what they say, then when they **** you, try and find an OEM replacement online. you might not be able to properly install it yourself though.

Sorry to hear about that. People are really jerks when it comes to driving. Thier was a time when people would leave a note and actually get that fixed for you. Anyway good luck getting it fixed. Maybe a good body shop can do it cheap.

The mirror assembly is $85 from the website below. The site is run by a Ford dealer in the Detroit area. If there's no need for bodywork, then just buy a mirror. Installing the mirror is a 5 minute job at most.

All you'll have to do is pop the inside trim cover off, and remove the 3 exposed nuts that hold the mirror to the door.

Yeah, I would see what you can find online. My wife's old Mustang lost an unfortunate encounter with the side of the garage on its way out one morning and it lost its driver side mirror. Ford wanted something like $120 for the part, but I found an exact replica from a random online retailer, for next to nothing, installed it myself, and you could never tell the difference.

The samething happen to me when I first bought my stang -- had it about 2 months... ran inside to drop off some things at the dry cleaners and I came back to no mirror [:@].... geeesh. Sorry to hear it happened to you too... I just went to ford and bought a mirror... you can install it yourself --- take abouts 10 minutes ;)

Yeah its a bummer, but atleast they didn't hit my car. The mirror sounds like it shouldn't be too hard to replace. I would much rather be fixing that than a big dent in the door or something.
