Really without spending a lot of money the best way is to change your driving habits. Some people take it to the extreme but when going down a hill make sure to coast and everytime you feel like tearing up the open road...don't.

Variance of the stuffed animal under the pedal: 1" block of wood in same location (cheaper - you can buy an extra gallon of fuel with the savings).
jk - drive it like you hate it and at the end of the year you'll probably be out $100 or so. WTF?

That's about it. I think the cost of gears outweighs the benefit for the gas you'll save. Same thing with higher octane fuel. Raise the tire pressure as high as you can stand (without exceeding the max. tire pressure, of course) and be easy on the gas. If there were any reasonable mods that could give you a return on fuel economy, you'd know about it.

Drive off-peak hours.
Time the traffic lights.
Easy acceleration, accelerate down hill when possible, coast up hill.
Wind at your back.
WTF a matter with me. Who buys a performance car and worries about gas mileage? If you're getting poor mileage then that means you're having fun with your car. Enjoy it and let the gas mileage thing go.
