How to remove the rear view mirror?

RE: How to remove the rear view mirror?
Ahhhhhhhhhh.
I forgot to mention...
After you remove the screw of course, you have to slide the assembly out, towards the headliner, like Matt try to explain.
If it seems stuck, that's when the hammer comes into play. Kidding, don't get mad.
Find something like a rubber mallet or the heel of your shoe and tap the basegently towards the back of the car. If this doesn't work, then some idiot put locktite in there[8D]. Hope not.

RE: How to remove the rear view mirror?
Mine looks completly different, like howarmat's. It's held on by a metal clip and slides down into a cast iron or aluminium holder. That metal clip then goes over the whole assebly.
It's all good 06elnr, your car can't in no way pass inspection without a rear view I beleive though.

RE: How to remove the rear view mirror?
Well, I thought I had some kind of answers for Legion5 to help him.
Now I have questions instead.
My mirror came with the conventional screw in the base to hold it in place. It was a plane Jane with manual dimmer also.
What I don't understand is, whyam I the only one with the old fashion one?
I don't care too much becauseIinstalled a different one now, with all the goodies, but it bugs me.
