Default To oil the filter or not...

Just rolled about 3010 miles on my K&N drop in and not sure if I should re-oil it.

My conundrum lies in about a week or two I will have more than enough for a CAI+Tuner pacakge and not sure if it is worth spending the cash...

dont think I'd re-oil a dirty filter. re-oiling is after you clean them I thought.

I would rest my decision on the miles, not the time, before you get a CAI. If you're not constantly on the road, let her ride.

Idont see any reason to add more oil that will end up on your mass air sensor,
you may want to clean it and re oil if its dirty.

Partially dirty filters work better that newly cleaned and oiled ones.
Dont over-oil and DONT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN
OR DRY FILTER AFTER CLEANING.

just wait to get CAI + tuner; and get JLT or C&L.

Funny, I was asking about this myself.

As for the K&N, they specifically say to re-oil it in the packaging, so I am assuming yes... but....I thought you only re -oil a K&N after you wash it? And thats at 30k mile intervals, correct? I would definitely not re-oil without cleaning.

I have an FRPP CAI, and I was told by the FRPP Tech Hotline personnel, as well as a Ford dealer to NOT oil it, ever, just wash every 30k miles.

+1. Been running K&N drop-ins for years. You are good to go until at least 15k miles.
