Shaker Scoop or new hood?

Shaker Scoop or new hood?
When I first bought my S197 in January 2006 I never saw any of them. Now, they are a lot more common and I see many with stripes, etc. I'd like my car to stand out more and I'm thinking the best way to do that would be a modification to the hood.
Anyway, I'm considering a Shaker Hood Scoop or just scraping the old hood all together and getting a new one.
The Shaker is appealing to me because it's functional, even though it really doesn't help much with performance. I take the vehicle to car shows and it's nice to have one that shows well. Still, I'm going on looks alone and I'm not sure if the Shaker looks much better than any other bolt on scoop. I've never seen a Shaker Scoop in person, though...maybe it looks a lot better?
Any recommendations? The cost turns out to be very close. The Shaker is about $800 and the new hood would probably be $450 - $500, then it has to be painted and stripes have to be added.

RE: Shaker Scoop or new hood?
Get a new hood. The right hood is a great way to improve the look without implementing a marginaly functional (or non-functional) hood scoop. You'd be kidding yourself if you thought there was a performance gain with the Shaker Hood scoop, particularly for the price.
They're tacky and fall in the same class as these...

I think for shows the Shaker is a cool feature cause nothing is better than a huge hole being in your hood while it's open... It's a conversation piece as well. People always are asking, "did you cut that hole in there yourself?" Then it leads into talking more about my car. But of course the Shaker all depends on the direction of your car. I don't like the Shaker without stripes. Something about the way it looks on a plain hood doesn't look right.
