Best navigation unit..

RE: Best navigation unit..
The only thing that the factory navigation has over an aftermarket unit would be that it sits flush compared to the aftermarket unit sticking out 1/8". Compared to all of the benefits over the OEM unit, I'll take my aftermarket unit any day. How much of an option is it anyways? I'm pretty sure it's expensive, more expensive than it'd be to even pay someone to put one in your car.
I do have a question though. When installing is there anything special that needs to be done if you've got the Shaker500?

RE: Best navigation unit..
We've got both the Z1 (my Stang)and the D3 (Wifeys Focus)
Both units are great, think the streetname readback on the Z1 wins over the D3 BUT the iPod interface on the D3 FAR exceeds the iPod interface on the Z1
If I were to have to go buy a new nav unit, think I'd go with the D3
The only downside to having 2 sets ofNav Systemsis paying for 2 sets of NavTraffic, other than that, can't beat having Both Sirius and XM available at all times
The D3 DOES allow you to remove the nav disk if you set a destination (stores in local memory) which allows you to play DVD'sor CD'sif you want to, the only drawback (to at least the Z1) is the bluetooth SUCKS royally, went with the Parrot interface in the wife's car whichworks incredibly well

the option costs $1,995. i've been trying to find reviews on it because i'm going to buy an 08 mustang very soon and i want pros and cons to this navi, but it seems as though the only things people can say about it are "gross"
