08 GT Grinding in 1st low rpm
Hey all, I have had my '08 GT for a few weeks now and I notice that when I start slowly in first gear I get a sort of grinding sound between 1000-1200 rpm. If I ride the clutch a little longer and give it more throttle so that the clutch is not all the way out until 1500-1700 rpm then there is no grinding sound. There is only about 650 miles on the car, is this just part of the break in period? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about grinding, but there's often a dry bearing-like noise audible in low gears. It's the nature of the best, the input shaft on these boxes is blessed with this characteristic. I would suggest you keep an ear out on it andif it gets worse take it in for the Ford WrenchMonkeys to gawp at, I bet it doesn'tthough, not in the next few years anyway.

I get a similar noise to what marcuskeeler describes, and it's only on very light throttle.. It's an '07 and I'm up to 3400 miles, and the sound is getting a bit better - I'd say give it some more miles, and if it's still there and offensive when you're due for your first service check, then have the dealer look at.
