CAI w/out heat shield

CAI w/out heat shield
i jut changed out my K&N to JLT CAI today, someone else is getting the K&N. wondering does the heat shield matter that much? i mean there are gaps in the heat shield so hot air does get in there on any CAI, plus the K&N heat shield is a pain in the but to put in compared to the JLT. so does the heat shield matter that much?
