my wrecked 05

Whats up everyone? alright. Well, in june I was rear ended while I was sitting at a red light. It sucked. Body shop did their thing car is as good as it is going to get body wise. The problem I am having is with mechanical issues. Since the accident the following things have been happening:

refuses to start in the morning, when it does it blows blue smoke and barely idles for about a minute or two.

electronically..it is going ape-s#$t. the left fog light stays on for no reason, radio stops working or ejects cds or things like that and driver side taillights(where the most impact was) stopped working about 3 days after repairs.

Also, I bent the shifter in the wreck and now my gears grind and occasionally clutch smoke(a lot) is noticed even when not using the clutch.

The insurance company says that none of these things are related in a rear end accident, or I had the problems before(which is not true).

The frame rails were pretty severly bent and because I wouldn't take the car to *their* approved body shop I had to drive my carfor workfor a week before their adjuster would look at my car.

There are a lotmore problems I did not list to try to make this shorter, but does anyone have any experience with these problems after their wrecks? If so, let me know.

The problem I am having is the wreck also caused some body injuries to whichI can not work right now. I have no money for a shop to do a detailed inspection.The2places I did go to, the insurance companydiscredited as not a "universally"trustedauto shop. Meaning I can only take my car to an auto manufactures shop. That sucks because they want money darn near up front.

let me know if youhave some idea's on whatswrong. Or if you think you need more info.

Sorry to hear about the accident :( -- Who is your insurance company?? Seems that they are trying to get over on you. You can take your stang to whatever shop you want too... the reason that they want you to use theirs is because they get hooked up from those shops as far as cost is concerned (cheaper for their payout). I would def call and push issues about this and not take NO for an answer. Take it to ford to be looked at... Ford wont be cheap and they'll have to deal with them... or... call Ford and see what shop they use for major body work from an accident in your area.... then call that shop... that shop will be covered by your insurance since they are contracted out threw a Ford Dealer ~ J

Was the "wrecked" stang stored outside before being fixed?
Sounds like your SJB got wet or your wiring harness got damaged somwhere
and they didnt fix it properly. Body shops do just that, fix body damage.
They lack in the electronics department and did not fix it correctly?

sorry to hear about what happened. do not take NO for an answer. go to a doctor, get him to document your injuries. call the insurance company up and fax them the bills. when you go to the doc, bring the accident info...claim #, etc., give it to the hospital and let them pay.

basically, do NOt let the insurance company push you around. if they won't help, last resort - contact a lawyer.

Don't let them get away with this. Bite into those bastards like a pit bull. If all else fails, then find a lawyer. Just hearing that you have retained a lawyer, can sometimes make them more compliant.

I feel for you man. It sucks that you have injuries.
You have to take this seriously because your whole life might be affected.
DON'T GET INTIMIDATED!

Your tranny problems are related to the crash, period. Especially when you're not moving when it happens.
Ask the morons : How the hell do I bend a shifter when going up and down the gears?? Not!!
You bend a shifter when you hang on for dear life, that's when. Or when the drivetrain is shoved forward or backward upon impact.

Since the frame rails where badly bent, chances are, that the rear axle moved and shoved that input shaft hard against the pilot bearing or some like that (make sure you have fluid left in that tranny too, in case it leaked out)). If it smokes now, you will brake down soon. Not good!
Your electrical problems are also related (everything, really).Something shorted out, abviously, and you can't find out all of this until the car is drivebale again. That would be a supplement to the original estimate.
The insurance company is taking advantage of you and we're not talking about a fender bender here.
I hope you get tougher with them and put them on the spot.

Good luck with that mess.

Thanks for all your input. It looks like I will be taking this one to court. They had a specialist look at my car a few days ago. The "specialist" was supposed to run diagnostics and what not and the conclusion was they found nothing wrong with the car. Which sucks. But, I recieved the report from the specialist today. It states in the report that they only looked at cosmetic damage. They did no diagnostic or mechanical inspection. That was the point of them looking at the car. Oh well.. I think I am probably going to end up being screwed over in the long run. I will try to get some pics of the damage up. A picture tells a thousand words. The only ones I have are after the frame was straightened, which pulled out a lot of the damage. Thanks again.

RE: my wrecked 05

Do you still have a copy of the original estimate?
Don't worry about pics, if you go to court, the insurance will have to show them. They have to take pics before anyone touches the car to document how bad the car got hurts etc...

If you stand your grounds, you won't get screwed on that deal because it can be proven that your mechanical/electrical problems are a direct result of that wreck.
Also, I bet your motor and trany mounts are shot. Have them inspected as it will play in your favor.
You don't ruin those patrs by wear and tear on a car that new.

Find another specialist (that one you just used is a moron)to look only at the mechanical stuff. Like : rear end shift, drive shaft bend, mounts bustedand frame rails quality repair also.
