Default Just added the Shaftmasters aluminum drive shaft

I just changed over to the Shaftmasters aluminum drive shaft - what a difference it makes! I am very pleased with the results - no vibration and the throttle "feels" more responsive even.

Since my car isn't lowered it only took the shop about 15 minutes to swap out the stock shaft and put in the Shaftmasters one. Before the swap I always felt a vibration, but the dealer said they couldn't feel it and said whatever I felt was my aftermarket exhaust system. Now with the new aluminum shaft, I know that it was there before. The car accelerates very smoothly - and it feels like it is quicker but that could be because there is no vibration. I was surprised on the way home when I looked down and saw I was cruising at 85 - it used to give me a vibration at 80 so I knew when I crept up over 75. GuessI need to keep a closer eye on the speedometer now!

If the weather holds off we should have a good day with our cruise up to Knoll-Gas Motorsports Park - US131 - and I will get a chance to really check out the new shaft.

Glad you like it

That's probably my next mod, along with gears and an LSD since Ford neglected to supply me with one [:@]

MellowYellow: The car feels "lighter" and more responsive - I was surprised at how much quicker it felt and how much the throttle seemed to respond, especially since I was driving with the stock drive shaft wrapped up in the back seat and a pair of drag radials and wheels in the trunk and back seat so had a lot of extra weight in the car.
The car travels much smoother now - no vibrations. It used to shake as soon as I passed 80 but now it is so smooth that it easily accelerates to 80 and beyond so I have to be more careful because the handling isn't giving me an "alert" that my speed crept up. It is very smooth and quiet, and the Richmond gears (which are prone to whine) are a little quieter as well - probably because the shaft isn't shaking them anymore.

Timmay!!: Shaftmasters is a Michigan company that specializes in drive shafts. They developed this shaft for the S197 Mustangs earlier this year and have an online store -- www.shaftmasters.com you have to use the "s" in the name or it doesn't take you to their site.
