Question 2005 mustang GT Vert buying advice(need fast replies!)

Going to look at a 05 vert auto tommorow, guy wants 7k but is open to offers, thinking he might take 6k-6500k, car looks super clear from the pics, he states he has changed all fluids, new ball joints suspension, new plugs etc. Looks really taken care of. The car has a 170K on it. My question is how long do these 3v motors last? How long do the auto trans last? Also what else should i be looking for? Issues etc. Thanks in advance.

170K miles is taking a risk, no matter how you slice it. Beat him down on the price as much as you can with the anticipation that something is going to blow up.

Rumor has it that the 4.6 L will go 250K, no problem.

Also, ask him if he has ever changed the plugs. If not, be VERY careful (the plugs can get stuck and break off in the head).

Good luck.

Take a look to see if the carpet is wet or if there are signs of it on the front passenger floor. Then look down in the cowl to see if there is any evidence of clogging, open the hood and check the drain on the firewall to see if it is clogged.

Just be really sure he is telling you the truth about the plugs having been changed. I'd want to know WHEN they were changed and how many miles since.

KBB.com, Edmunds.com, nada.com are all good for getting some negotiating data.

You can also pull information about things to look for
