Usually onlonghighway tripswith a little bit of beating on it I average right around 25mpg plus or minus 1. The one time I did not beat on it at all and kept a steady 70 to 75 mph I averaged 30mpg. Almost stock, only have an airaid intake.

I have gotten 30+ mpg, around 32-33 mpg on highway, cruising at 60-70 mph with my 08 5sp. No one believed me until I took them around and showed them. From what Im guessing when I fill it its about right, I drove 800 miles through indiana, ohio, west virginia, virginia to the ocean and averaged the entire trip at a little over 26 mpg. This was like 5 days after I bought the car.

You probably have the rare 4cyl option on your car... Or you know way more than we do.

No offense, but it's very, very hard to believe.
Is your car stock?

nice! any idea what highway MPG is stock? i just want to know if it went up with the CAI and tune
at 70-75mph, I've seen over 26mpg. At 60-65mph, its been just under 28mpg. Overall I average 20mpg but I almost always hit 100mph when on the freeway, either for split second or a few miles.

I also datalog my fuel consumption and my stang's computer is always .1-.2 higher than the paper way.

The 4cyl thing is a little humour I threw at you...
And I never said you were a liar. Come on man.
If I thought you were indeed a liar, I would have said so, in big capitals ; LIAR.

I get 24mpg (if I'm lucky)with a stock V6 at aconstant 80mph (2400 rpm).
You come up with over 30mpg on a V8, I never heard those numbers before.
That is all.

80mph is bad for gas mileage. You should slow down and try measuring your MPG at 55-60mph before you bash on Mr 30mpg. I have seen as high as 27.7 and even that included a couple miles at 70+mph. If there was a cop on the freeway doing the 55mph speed limit, I bet my MPG would get damn close to 30mpg.

I'm not bashing Mr 30mph for one.
And 80mph don't mean squat. It's the rpm that affect gas mileage (also wind etc.., you get my point).
If you have a 6 spd with the big overdrive, doing 80 at 1800 rpm, you'll be better of than me at 80 with 2400.

Andyou're also right... If I could manage to stay at 55/60 for a while, it would be a more accurate test.
But, it ain't no way I'll hit the 30+mpg with that car. Ford estimated 18/19 in town and 24/25 hiway. If anything, they'll lie about the numbers being lower than higher, of course.

If I'm wrong and misinformed about all this, then so be it.
