Could it be coming from the exhaust? My 05 has a slight rattle that sounds like it is coming from the exaust, but it only happens when it is cold. After a couple of minutes of running, it is completely gone. I've never worried about it, because I assumed it was contractionn and expansion in the pipes or cats and once the car gets a little heat in the motor, the expansion kicks in and it is gone.

I don't know, I could be completely off base here but hope it helps.

I have that same sound also, sounds like a high pitch whine when car is cold. I wouldn't say it goes away though you just don't pay attention to it when driving over exhaust sound.
This noise has been bothering me also but it's been with me since I bought the car new 2 months ago. hmmmmmmmmm!

Oh, forgot to mention I have an auto.
