Nitrous Noob

Been kicking around the idea of getting nitrous lately. What all would I need to run it safely? How long does one bottle usually last? Anybody on here thats spraying blown anything yet?

I have the zex kit and would recommend having a pressure gauge, heater, wideband a/f meter and a window switch. I dont have all of it yet, but have had mine on the dyno to check everything and make sure im stalled up above 2500 before going wot. I have had no issues with nitrous yet, and have made as many as 6 passes before switching bottles when runnign the 75 shot. could probably make more but dont want to have too much pressure drop while racing. its a little bit of a nuisance having to turn it on and off since I dont have a remote bottle opener and changing of the bottle, but it is so much worth it when you nail the throttle and it pins you in the seat.

Whats the biggest shot that would be safe on stock internals?

+1 on that stuff and also a blow down tube.
1 tank should last about 10 runs, depends on the shot, and if u r purging.
I have never blown anything

They say safe is 100 shot
But I feel 125 is ok as long as you have an a/f gauge

125 is what most people are saying. I sprayed 150 shot for the first time last weekend from third gear on and ran a 11.42 at 124 mph with no problems, but it was the first time I ran that much. I was more worried about running low on fuel pressure is why I just ran it part of the way, but If I make it to the track this weekend I will spray off the line and see what happens

I have a problem. No the motor is not blown or anything like that but none the less I can't go wot for more than a few seconds before the car dies. I am almost sure that it is in the tune or have a bad sensor(semi easy fix). Once the problem is worked out I will put in new plugs, window switch,a/f gaugeand bottle heater and up the shot to the 125 and feel safe(and a good dynotune). I don't know what these guys are doing to go through a bottle every 6-10 runs but I am getting close to 20 runs on the 75 shot and I get on the juice right around the 60' mark. If I were to do it again which I would these are the things that I would do zex kit, purge, bottle heater, window switch, plugs, and a good dyno tune. A a/f or wideband gauge is not necesary but really nice.

its all about the tune, injectors, and spark plugs, technically 175 shot is the absolute upper limit no matter what you do. the shot adds more torque than hp, and at that level, your not only straining your internals, but also your clutch and stuff.

+1 to what everyone said here.

I usually run a 125 shot....but bumped it up to a 150 shot for a week or so...then back down.

THe bottle lasted about 4 runs on the 125 shot. Ive been through roughly 20-25 bottles by now, no nitrous related problems **knock on wood***

How much does a new bottle cost?
