Default is this hard to install?

I have 2007 Mustang GT. It is a standard carbut I do not like the stock shift. It does not matter where I sit my seatI stillmust reach a long way for fifth gear and toreverse. Also Imiss third shift sometimes.

Istheshifter hard to put on the car? Could I do it myself? I have basic tools saw how to install the Hurst shifter on this site. This looks different to the Hurst model and others. I do not have spare money. Willthis workfor my car and can I put it onmyself?

I think it all depends on how confident you are in your own mechanical ability. I'm no mechanic but understand machinery enough to tackle most tasks on my own. I would find that specific job if anything just time consuming cause I'd make sure I was doing it right. I don't personally think it would be hard. Good luck!

Decide for your self if you can do it on not.

But why not go with a Hurst or MGW?

The install of the shifter isn't too hard. But if you don't think you can handle it, I don't think it would be too costly to have a Shop do it for you. As far as the Shifter in question, I don't know of anyone that has that particular one. Most guys get the Hurst, or MGW.

I think I swapped my old one for my new one with the car on jackstands in my garage in about a half-hour. That sounds like a run-on sentence.

Mechanically it is very straight forward. If you gather up the various "shifter install" write-ups floating around you will get a good idea of what's involved. The most important thing is knowinghow to work under your raised car safely.

As for the shifter in question, B&M has always made somepretty darn good performance equipment. Although I have not seen this particular B&M model, I recently installed one of their shiftersin my friends '33 Ford coupe. It was a ratchet design for a GM Turbo autoand the fit and finish was excellent, it installed very easy and worked great. I have no idea how well this short throw Mustang shifter would work but based on my experience it should be just fine.

The hardest part is getting the shifter through the hole. It's a piece of cake. And believe me, I am no mechanic.

+1
After the OEM is wrangled out and the new one
is in the hole its pretty simple after that. Take
pics of the OEM linkage before removal so you
dont get it installed on the wrong side of the B&M..
