Default What can I do to be louder but still sound good.

So far I have SLP Loud Mouth. I love the way they sound, I just wish I had more volume at idle. I know whatever I do will make it louder through the entire RPM range and I'm fine with that. I would like to avoid any kind of in cabin drone though, so far I don't have any or at least I don't notice it.

LT headers will help and get rid of the CATS (or use high flow CATS) but you might have the dreaded drone after......

he said he wanted it to sound good... DON'T take off the cats running to a Loudmouth, it won't sound good at all.

An added cai and tune will give you a deeper and slightly louder tone.

I was in the same situation once, it sucks because basically there is no easy way to increase the sound.

LTs will help but cost some serious cash
Deleting the CATS will sound like crap... trust me on that one

Personally I did the following
1. Got an O/R Xpipe; with the LMs it was wayyy too loud and sounded god awful
2. Put the stock axle backs on with the O/R Xpipe; tone was good but it was very quiet
3. Sold the LMs and bought the Pypes Mid-Muffler Cat Back

I'm content with the sound, its loud but not too loud. The tone is good, could be deeper but it doesn't trumpet (thank god) like the LMs did. This is with the O/R Xpipe. Fittment sucked with the Pypes kit but it sounds pretty good so w.e

Trumpet? What does that mean?

Also, to brad281. I have an CAI and Tune on the way. I bet the CAI will sound good at WOT, but stock otherwise.

you can always tune and set your Idol rpm at like 900 instead of 700 (think thats what stock is) you wouldnt notice the gas differance at all. And it'll give it a little more volume and grumble at idol. If your at a stop or red light. Hit the gas and keep it at like 900rpm. you'll notice the differance.

Other then that Im not to sure what else to do but tune or shance your pypes

Trumpeting is hard to explain it happens around 2300rpms, sorta can hear it on LMs with stock CATs, its undesirable

Longtube headers if money isn't really an issue
