clutch making noise
Hey guys,
I noticed this morning on the way into work everytime I depressed the clutch I got a noise best described as a "clacking" sound. It did it when the car was warming up in the driveway, I had it in nuetral, then it did it about 30 minutes later when I checked in the parking garage at work everytime I depressed the peddle it would start clacking. It didn't do it when it was disengaged and sitting in neutral. Any ideas? I called spec and they had no clue what would cause that. BTW it's a new clutch, but now broken in with about 500 miles and no sounds until this morning.

I don't think it's the throw out bearing, only because they replaced it when they put the new clutch in 3 weeks ago. I hope the tech installed it correctly. I am making an appointment at the dealer to get it checked out so we'll see what it is. I'll repost when I find out.

RE: clutch making noise
Installing new stuff isn't any guarantee it isn't going to crap itself the next day unfortunately -One has to assume it's someting in the clutch group doing it and the whole thing is new so.......
It sure sounds like a release bearing or cover plate problem. Iwould be concerned that the bolts holding the cover plate to the flywheel are secure and get it looked at sooner rather than later.
Does the bite point of the clutch seem to be at the same point or is it moving 'up the pedal' ?

RE: clutch making noise
Hey Marcus, I'll make sure to pay attention this afternoon in my commute home. If that's the case I am really going to be bummed, since I had the dealer out of town install it when I broke down....
