Default How had is it to remove the dash pieces?

I'm referring to the silver parts of the dash, I remember someone mentioning that the airbag part is actually attached to the airbag but what about the rest? I painted the silver parts of the steering wheel black and I would like to do the rest of the dash as well. I think it'll look good but am I just better off buying an overlay or is it a do-able job removing the dash pieces? Any input would be appreciated.

It's not that hard. Even removing the airbag isn't that hard, just make sure you pull the proper fuse. You have to remove the airbag to remove the center vent piece. You'll need to remove the drivers side kick panel, seal plate and plastic piece below the steering wheel just to remove the gauge panel. The kick panel has one screw I think and the seal plate (says mustang on it) just pulls straight up. A few screws under the steering wheel panel and you're done. The gauge cluster cover just pulls out. Take the glove box out to get underneath the airbag and remove the two bolts that hold it in and it will slide out.

A lot of the pieces just snap in. The black plastic pice under the steering wheel needs to be removed I believe and I think it uses torque bit screws. all the rest are standard bolts

You might not need to remove the black plastic around the steering wheel, i can't remember.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the steering wheel plastic in the morning.
