Royal Purple "Purple Ice" - do not use distilled water??
Does anyone know why Royal Purple states "Distilled water and / or softened water should not be used in your radiator."??? Aren't you supposed to use distilled water to avoid mineral deposit buildup from regular tap water?
I put a 50/50 mix in for engine coolant and 80/20 mix for supercharger intercooler coolant (all this done when I installed my supercharger). I have a bottle of Purple Ice that I wanted to use and am confused why they said not to use distilled water.

Crap. I so didn't see that last time I used those. Used distilled last time :\. Btw those that stuff really work? I didn't really notice anything different temp wise. Used on a 17 y/o car though heh

It works great
I have an 85 t-bird that used to overheat and now w/ A/C running the temp dropes at the light
(I haven't driven said t-bird since 10-2-2006 day I bought the Stang)
I'll e-mail RP and ask them about this

hmm, is it worth buying it if you don't have any problems? Or on a new car?

It'll lubricate the water pump which extends the life of it
and help keep the cooling system in good shape
I've added it to my stang's radiator
with the electric fan and all the car will not dorp temp as the t-bird did (it had a strait fan) but it will increase the efficiency of the cooling system and help preserve it as well

I already got a reply from RP

Our webmaster just put up a new version and it seems they have modified the text without consulting the tech dept.Distilled water is fine IF you are using it in conjunction with antifreeze. The caution is for racers who are now being forced to race WITHOUT any antifreeze by track operators. If running 100% water - RP does not recommend the use of distilled water. Thanks for using RP.

I will NEVER trust anything from RP. Theres too much talk about how their chemicals corrode metal - regardless of product performance. True or not, the talk is there, and thats good enough for me.

but I know people with 200K+ miles on cast iorn and aluminumblocks that run RP form the get go without any trouble
I have a friend that drives an 18wheeler and one of his buddys runs only RP in his rig and thats 100K miles a year
