each sub has 4 wires hooked up to it....if anything i would just get the 1000 and forget about the subs in the door......in other words just skip the 500 setup alltogether

RE: Need Help with upgrading 2005 Stock Radio to Shaker 500 or Shaker 1000
So the Shaker 500 has two amps that go in the kick panel on the drivers side, and the Shaker 1000 has four amps all in a cluster that are installed in the ???. Does the Shaker 1000 not have subs in the kick panel like the Shaker 500? Does anyone have a pic of the Shaker 500amps and their associated plugs? I only have one, and do not see any other wiring for another amp. Are the four clustered Shaker 1000 amps supposed to be for the door subs and the trunk subs?
Heh, anyone mind telling me what actually comes with the Shaker 500 and the Shaker 1000, and how they are wired, and where? Pictures would be great if anyone has them. I want to do this all in one shot. Put in the new instrument panel, the new chrome dash fittings, the new stereo, the new door panels etc. But I really want to know exactly what I have to do, before I start pulling everything apart.

Can't help out too much here but the Shaker 500 only has one amp, the 1000 has two. If you start splicing into your stock wiring loom you're setting yourself up for future problems - as you have the entire dash loom I'd install that in place of your original. It may seem like more work but it will most likely be more reliable than any homemade effort.
Personally I ditched the Shaker 500 for a Kenwood DDX6019 (double DIN DVD player) as the OE head unit kept freezing up on me. It sounds like you're committed to going down this route though - in all fairness the 500 did not sound bad when it worked properly - so best of luck with it all.
BTW - now is maybe the time to invest in a factory workshop manual which should give detailed wiring diagrams to make life easier.

Well, it looks like the 8" subs only have one amp and it mounds under the steering wheel on the kick panel to the left of the brake. That works out pretty nice for the subwoofer amps in the trunk. I have read a few things that the weight of the amps and the subwoofers in that spot makes it dangerous to drive. Is that true?
Also, looks like Ford does not prewire everything, because I looked all over, but no third plug in the dash for the 500/1000, and no plug anywhere around the right tailight for the subwoofers either.

Wow, thanks. I forwarded that pic to the guy I am getting a lot of my parts from. He is stripping a GT completely down to make it into a race car, and selling all the parts. Have any more great pics like that of the various Speaker, H/U, Wires, plugs etc? That pic is great.

*Bump* Still looking for help. Are the harnesses wired any differently between the stock, 500 and the 1000? Anyone know where I can get a good deal on door panels that already have the mounts for the 8" subs?

wolfgheist,
I have a Shaker 500 and am looking for some non-Shaker door panels. Maybe we can swap. What color is your interior? Mine is charcoal. Where are you located?
