Default Need Help with upgrading 2005 Stock Radio to Shaker 500 or Shaker 1000

Hello,

I am honestly getting confused the more threads I read about the Shaker 500 and the Shaker 1000. I need some help figuring out to upgrade to one of these.

I have a 2005 V6 Mustang with a Stock Radio. I have been doing some upgrades and have put in multiple parts from a GT (Leather Seats for example). I bought a Messag Center my color instrument panel from a guy out of his GT. I also bought his Shaker 500 Head Unit, the 6 speakers, the sirius component and I asked if he could send me the wires for everything as well. Well... he sent me the entire, huge, giant hunk of wires, for the entire dashboard, complete with radio harness, security sytem, 1 shaker 500 amp (Not sure if there is more than one), the buttons to control the instrument panel, and a myriad of other plugs that all go to God knows what. I also have bought a Shaker 1000 Head Unit and am considering buying the Shaker 1000 Subwoofer box and associated amps.

Now the tough question. How in God's green earth do I wire this stuff? Oh, I am also likely getting the door panels from the GT, so that I do not have to try to figure out how to install the 8" sub's in my non sub door panels. Anyway, back to the question. I bought a Haynes manual, on the car and it has jack and squat for my questions of how to wire this stuff. I need pictures. Or someone really, really good with words that I can picture it in my mind. Does my stock stereo wire harness already have the wires in advance for the 8" subs and the trunk subs? Will the mass of wiring from the GT that had the Shaker 500 have everything I need? Where do I put the sirius module? It is freakin huge. Where do I put the Shaker 500 amp? Where would I put the Shaker 1000 amps? Why does it look like the Stock, Shaker 500 and Shaker 1000 all use the same 25W speakers in the rear deck? I have seen two different models of the Shaker 500 speakers with the tweeter. One where they are side by side, and one where the tweeter is on top of the other (This is the version I have). There is some strange little clear box attached to the Shaker 500 wiring harness that says Schosche Loc-80. What the heck is that for?

These questions have probably been addressed before, but the more I read, the more I got confused. I am big on DIY and want to do this myself, but I need some assistance, since I cannot find accurate pictures/descriptions, of what I have, what I need and where things need to go.

I appreciate all of your help.

Thanks.[/align]

Quite honesty it would be much cheaper for you to go aftermarket and it will sound much better. The shaker 500 door subs have special made enclusures that would cost you more then they are worth to add. I know this doesn't answer your question but I don't think you an do better by going after market.

+1 Instead of trying to put in a Skipper 500/1000 you should have just opted for something like the Avic D3. If you haven't started installing yet, you should just wait. If you're going to upgrade, then do a real upgrade and get something you'll get some enjoyment out of. I know these aren't the answers you're looking for, but they're the answers from people that care.[sm=smiley31.gif]

Well, it cannot be cheaper at this point, because I have a Shaker 500 and all the parts, and I have a Shaker 1000. I am happy with the stock system, and just wanted a little more bass, and I am happy with the sound I have heard from the Shaker 500's ad the Shaker 1000's.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Go aftermarket. Please don't install a Shaker 500. I'll be ditching mine after my performance mods are done.

The HU crashes.
The stock 4x6's are weak. Don't get loud at all. Can still hear my LM's over them with at max volume.

EDIT. I just saw that you already have the setup. Did you buy it or was it free?

A simple Single Din HU is all you need. AVIC is over kill if you aren't going to use any of the extras.

this is so not worth the effort and money......just put in a $150 head unit and you have already improved on your current setup in a huge way. you will have to tear alot of the interior out to install everything for the shaker systems

Well, I might regret it, but it has to be better than my stock system and I already have the Shaker 500 and Shaker 1000, so I would really appreciate some help on my questions.

there is no wiring for the subs in the rear for the 1000 subs and there is no wiring for the 500 subs in the door either.......you have to wire all of it, i think there are 2 amps for the 500 and there are also 2 for the 1000...each sub has its own small amp....you have to wire power and ground and speaker wire for each amp.

If you just want more bass, then buy a small sub ans amp and put that in the trunk......honestly you have no clue what you are getting yourself into by trying to install the shaker systems..

heh, it seems with the Shaker systems you are either 100% for them, or 100% against them. I don't get it, why would the wiring be any more difficult for running wiring to the subs for the Shaker than it would be for a non shaker system? I have all the wiring for the Shaker 500, and I mean all the wiring, the guy sent me the entire trunk bundle of wires that was in the dash of the GT. Is the stock deck better than the Shaker 500/1000?I do only seem to have one amp for the Shaker 500, and it plugs in neatly with the wiring that I have, but there are not any extra plugs, that look like they go to another one, and it looks like I have 4 wires coming out of the amp, so that there are two for each 8" sub.

I can get the Shaker 1000 amps and stock subwoofer box with subwoofers for around $200. Is that not worth it? $200 for the amps and the subwoofers, and the stock box sounds like a good deal to me.
