Any winter driving tips from the brave ones?
Okay, my pony is my daily driver, and as such its getting me through winters. I know not to drive fast at all, go slow in any turns without using the brake or gas, keep it below 3000 RPMs, snow tired, etc. What else is there to do? Should I put a couple sand bags in the trunk to help with traction? What else? This is my first RWD car
Thanks, looking forward to roughing it this winter!!!!

Mainly, weight in the truck. Just take it easy until you get the feel for it. It could be fun. But I recommend finding a big CLEAR parking lot and pratice.

dont get an engine block heater, floor it from every stop, get the widest tires possible, have no weight in your trunk at all, turn off traction control, super/turbo charger should help you when you get stuck

Leave it at home and get a Jeep. But seriously when the first snow falls take it to an open parking lot and do a few donuts and get the feel for what it takes to lose control of the car. If you know the limits it makes it easier to control on the open road.

you will get the hang of it when you start out, but dont get too comfortable and start to mess around in the snow cause you might lose control like i did and go across someones front yard [8D]

If you think you're going "slow enough", slow down. If you think you're braking "soon enough", brake sooner. Get about 100 lbs of either kitty litter or granulated oil absorbent (ask at any auto parts store). That will help in the trunk for traction and if you do get stuck, you can grab some out and throw it under your tires as a traction aid. Also, probably most importantly, make sure your car is "winterized". Anti-freeze safe to at least what the record low for your area is, windshield washer fluid switched out for deing type/freeze resistant, charging system/battery in tip-top shape, etc.
