Yeah whatever...
You obviously don't get it although you say you do. If you get to the point where that light comes on, you're most likely already doing repairs because in many cases it was low for some time. I'll know long before it gets down to 5psi that there's a problem. I've been building and racing for many years, I don't need you to tell me what to recommend and what not to. It's advice that's not forced on anyone, you read it, if you like it go ahead, if not don't ignore it simple as that but you don't have to be a ***** about it... -Joe

No kidding Reaper. I know the stock oil pressure guage is crap
and basically all show and no function but at least it has the idiot
(warning) light function and turns red when there is less than 5 PSI
oil pressure. Grounding your stock sender wire essentially looses
the red warning indicator. Like I said, you better keep one eye on
that aftermarket guage. Ever see those big red no oil pressure
lights in race cars that have guages also? Its your ride and do as
you will but dont advise others on your lackluster way of doing it.

"The wire that was going to the computer (if I remember right) I grounded."

You can just hook up an aftermarket sender with the factory unit...no need to ground it out. I did. Here's the link with pictures.

There is no harm in grounding the wire if you choose to (emphasis indicating that this is a personal choice). I did it on my 96GT and drove around for 4 years with no problems, and for well over 2 years now on my 05GT (and I drive the 05 a lot harder on a daily basis than I ever drove the 96. By the time the useless factory "gauge" would indicate a problem, you might have lost more than 4 of the 6 qts of oil the engine holds And you better believe I keep an eye on my Autometer OP gauge! Isn't that the whole purpose of installing real gauges in the car?
