My '08 GT manual states 7500 mile change intervals. I will do 5000, mainly because it is easy to keep up with. I really think running synthetic for 7500 miles shouldn't cause any harm.
A guy I used to work with swore that all you needed to change with synthetic oil was the filter every 12,000 or so miles. Never the oil. What a dork. I wonder if his Suburban is still running.

Frank.

Mobil 1 has a extended perfomance synthetic 5w30 that last 15K miles. I'm giving it a try. Fram also has an extended life filter.
go ahead give it a try
M1's 15,000 full syn
M1's 7,500 blend
M1's 5,000 dino
trust them if you want

I have a friend that drives a peterbuilt and one of his truck buddieshas donethat for years
he just changes the filter and replaces lost oil every 10,000 (they can't do only 5,000) they might do 5,000+ in a week
but remember they drive almost all highway so its a little differant

Ford says you can go 5k with dino oil. The new oils, including dino oil, are far superior to old, and the filters are better too. You do not need synthetic to go 5k. You can use it, but you don't need it. Also most 2007, and even more 2008 Ford's are going to a 7500 oil drain interval. The motors, oils, and filters are far superior than they were 30 years ago so 3k mile oil drains are unnecessary. People on here who are **** will say that you can't go 5k miles on dino oil, and they are flat out wrong. Also with a synthetic like mobil 1 you should be running 7500 - 10k miles with a premium filter.

sure but it depends on your driving habits
how often do you go to 100 soon after you are on the highway
do you drive like a granny (just an expression no offence to grannys)
do you plan on modding the stock block and keeping it for a long time

just some things to think about

I change my oil every 6 months, which is typically about 1,500 miles. I use Mobil 1 full syn and K&N oil filters.

I used to ignore the 5K recommendation and do 3K.

But I then read in an indenpendant study that new oil protects LESS than 'healthy' aged oil, like 2K-5K. So I went from switching every 3K miles to every 6K miles, and do a filter change in the middle.

In the end its all so small that it doesn't matter, its all protecting just fine. But its a good piece of mind to do whats right.
