2005 GT Auto Tran Noise
New 05 GT Auto with 1,100 miles. Love the car but the transmission whine in 1st thru 3rd gears is drivivng me nuts! Defect? Basically accelerating and decelerating under 35 MPH it sounds like a jet engine winding up or down. Noiser on decelrating and noisiest in 2nd gear. Tried putting it in neutral while the noise was there and it still whined. So maybe not the tranny. Not a coasting thing though (I saw posts about coasting gear issues elsewhere) because its doing it when I am applying a bit of gas to just stay in 2nd.
Any thoughts...anybody else similar?
Thanks.

Now that you mention it mine sounds kinda like a jet engine when you coast. I just thought it was the way it sounds but it doesnt do it all the time.

Took it in and had it checked out. They had the head tech at the dealer ride around with me. He never heard anyhting like it in 15 years he said. We were rididng around with him poking out of the window with his head down around the bottom of passenger door!...anyway, they decided to put it on the rack and see if it did it, they disconnected the radio and amp...still did it, they checked OASIS (whatever that is), called a hot line etc...someone decided to try drivivng another 05 GT Auto...same exact sound...so
it is classified as "NORMAL CAR BEHAVIOR" on an 05 Auto. Thanks for the feedbacks. It looks like a number of us have the sound going on.

My 07 GT/CS has the same whine in 2nd gear only when accelerating. Its been there since day 1 and so far it still shifts correctly with 10,000 miles on the ticker. If there was something wrong internal, it should have eaten the tranny already. I'm not too worried, but it better fail before the warranty is done. Besides, it kinda sounds like a turbo spooling up....cool! Just to be on the safe side, I'm bringing it in tuesday to have it looked at along with a TSB on the rear-end to be resolved.
