Default Questions on GT shorty install

I've read several online guides, but wondering if all of that work is needed... I'm posting an annoying amount of questions here in hopes this could also help people in the future.

1. Must remove motor mounts?

2. Must remove starter? (Assuming yes but still asking)

3. Must remove or move steering rack?

4. Ever have to turn wheels during process?

5. Torque settings for bolts/studs?

6. Copper RTV around new header's new gaskets?

7. Copper RTV where new header meets old cat-pipe?

8. Anyextra special tools the regular person won't have?

9. Any tips on where to reach forsome harder bottom bolts/studs?

10. Hardest thing to do during the entire process?

11. Add any tips here...

I've read several online guides, but wondering if all of that work is needed... I'm posting an annoying amount of questions here in hopes this could also help people in the future.

1. Must remove motor mounts?
Yes 4 bolts on the block one to the k memeber
2. Must remove starter? (Assuming yes but still asking)
yes pass side
3. Must remove or move steering rack?
the rack stays, steering shaft has to come out
4. Ever have to turn wheels during process?
No
5. Torque settings for bolts/studs?
depending on what shorties you will have all new bolts no studs- 30 ft lbs
6. Copper RTV around new header's new gaskets?
I didnt use it
7. Copper RTV where new header meets old cat-pipe?
Didnt use it
8. Anyextra special tools the regular person won't have?
Its mostly hand tools no room for air, definetly get some ratchet wrenches
9. Any tips on where to reach forsome harder bottom bolts/studs?
I tightened the 4 bottom bolts and then tightened the top 4bolts
10. Hardest thing to do during the entire process?
Fully touqing every bolt tospec driving it and the re touqing as it said in directions
11. Add any tips here... I couldnt imagine doing this with out a lift it took me about 6 1/2 hours with a lift at work. I installed the bbk shorties ceramic coated, getting blown so long tubes really didnt matter to me. shorties are fine!

Thanks for your answers. Dang it sounds tough!

Im getting the BBK shorties also, "tuned length". This is what you got? How does the car feel afterwards and is there any sound difference?

Also... how did you do the motor mounts, considering you used a lift so its not like youcould jack the engine up?

When I had my Shorties installed, the Mechanic, who is a friend of mine, and his two helpers all agreed, that IF they did this job again...the price would be much more than I paid. It really sounds good on the Web Site when you read it..."Simple bolt on, replaces your Stock Exhaust Manifold".........Yeah, Right
