Hurst shifter rattle

RE: Hurst shifter rattle
go through the entire installation part for part and make sure all bolts and screws are tight, I would get it up on a lift before you loose that one bolt that is on the bottom of your undercarage with that rectangular silver plate that holds the whole thing up to the proper position. If you loose that rolling down the road you wont like the results, you might not have the leverage to change gears anymore haha that would suck.

Hurst shifters are so cheaply made. Mine rattled because the spherical bearing was too small for its housing and had play in it. It's sitting on my floor in its box. Tomorrow I'm installing a Steeda Triax.

Mine rattled too, I suspected it was in the ball also........I removed the rear Hurst mount bushing and reinstalled the factory one (much softer) That helped a lot but then I cut a hole in some thick rubber and pushed in down over the handle (with the ball and boot removed) and that got rid of about 95% of it. I was about to give up on it too but I love the look and feel of it so much.........

I took my Hurst shifter assembly apart, and the bearing is definitely loose in the housing. I don't see why they couldn't snug it up like the stock shifter is. The stock shifter has zero play in it.

RE: Hurst shifter rattle
Could just be a loose handle. Mine loosened up on me several times until I did this to it along with a couple of good lock washers.

RE: Hurst shifter rattle
I'm betting its a loose handle. There are several ways to fix it, tighten the bolts, use/replace the lock washers, put some blue Loc-tite on the bolts. When I bought mine one of the bolts were missing so I had to use some different bolts, they haven't come loose on me yet.
