KB starting to suck? Whats the best?
I am thinking for my upcomming FI mod the whipple's 3.3L blower wouldn't be a bad choice. The new KB's aren't impressing me with the power people are making. Seems like the older 2.2 and 2.4's were making more power. Anyone seeing this from other people with the new KBs? I like the fact that their pullies come off super easy but the Whipple with a 6 bolt shaft removal might be a lil bit harder to take off and if whipples are taking over as the king of the road it seems like a good idea.
And procharger might be a good choice now as I was dead set on a KB. Running 700ish HP how much harder is it going to be able to drive a procharger rod on the street then a twin screw?
Lotsa info and questions lets see what ppl think.

700 hp? Nice fantasy.

I wanna say Mark (Fordfanboy) is in the high 700s to mid 800rwhp range with his KB. Of all the T/S blowers I think the KB has shownthe most power potential. Don't know of many if any whipples or saleenslaying down more than 600 rwhp.
But whats really important? Impressing the internet with big dyno #s or winning races with good driving and a well sorted car.

plus its good to dream big and have a plan to get there. plans may change along the way, but keeping that ultimate goal in mind is the key: high hp or fast et's or good appearance mods. always have a goal and a plan, otherwise you're throwing your money into the wind. ortorch's goal of 700 hp is attainable, as others have proved. i hope he does attain that goal, and give the rest of us hope for big numbers too.

RE: KB starting to suck? Whats the best?
for 700-800 heres a possible engine mod list (please add to this trans, suspension, and stiffening mods)
KB 2.8 w/ black Diamond TB
298-302 stroker (I've heard theres at lease one knock friendly 302 stroker kit) w/ 8:1comp
MSD coils
oil separator (to keep the oil out of the intake)
maybe a radiator upgrade
H0 or H-1 plugs (stock is H1)
Full exhaust (headers and all)
an upgraded tensioner (if you see the other Mforums try the tensioner-rrr)
GT500 dual fuel pumps
upgraded injectors
maybe upgraded fuel lines
larger heat exchanger
larger IC reservoir
a KB boost-a-pump
full port/polish
8-rib kit
maybe FordFanBoy will chime in as to what this set should net

RE: KB starting to suck? Whats the best?
BTW the thing you'r seeing with the power on the KB 2.2-2.4-2.6 is the larger the Screw S/C the less efficient it is at low boost
say you had a 2.2@15PSI and a 2.8@15PSI
the 2.2 would have to spin faster and would give hotter air than the 2.8
however
if you had say a 2.2@6psi and a 2.8@6psi
the 2.2 would work better at the lower boost as less air would slip past the rotors
so if you want high boost go with the larger but if you want low boost go with a smaller unit unless you plan on uping the boost
